Communication skills are essential for coordinating order preparation and adjusting to verbal instructions when necessary.

Beyond food preparation, cooks maintain the cleanliness and safety of kitchen equipment, floors, and counters using approved cleaning products. They operate large cooking appliances such as grills and deep fryers safely, utilizing PPE as required. Cooks follow proven systems and checklists for kitchen setup, stocking, and closing duties. Staying updated through continuous learning of new recipes and promotional procedures is part of their role to support marketing initiatives.

Cooks also assist with dining room cleanliness and efficient food delivery, contributing to an overall positive guest experience. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Be a menu expert and follow Smashburger's prep and menu recipe standards to prepare guest orders
  • Read, prepare and cook food orders to specifications ensuring guest satisfaction and minimizing waste
  • Work effectively as a team player communicating with Guest Service Experts and managers in a busy restaurant environment
  • Ensure all food items are rung in prior to preparing orders and adapt to verbal instructions when needed
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, equipment and counters using company approved cleaning products
  • Operate large cooking equipment such as grills and deep fryers using proper PPE
  • Follow checklists and systems to set up, stock and close the kitchen
  • Learn new recipes and procedures to support marketing promotions
  • Assist Guest Service Experts in dining room cleanliness and efficient food delivery
  • Foster a safe work environment by adhering to all personal and food safety and security standards
