Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a cook in a healthcare or assisted living setting preferred
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry at least 30 pounds
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ability to work collaboratively with kitchen staff
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to follow detailed recipes and menus
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized kitchen

- Physical ability to work in a kitchen environment exposed to heat and sharp tools
Job Qualifications

- Culinary certification or relevant vocational training is a plus
- Previous experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare or assisted living setting
- Strong culinary skills with a focus on food preparation and presentation
- Knowledge of food safety practices and dietary requirements for elderly residents

Job Duties
- Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines
- Ensure that meals are presented attractively and meet quality standards
- Assist in planning weekly menus that cater to residents' dietary needs, preferences, and any special dietary restrictions or medical conditions
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, including proper food handling, storage, and cleanliness protocols
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
- Engage with residents in a friendly and respectful manner
- Address any meal preferences or dietary concerns they may have and make accommodations as needed
- Monitor food inventory levels, manage ordering of supplies, and ensure that all ingredients are fresh and used within their shelf life
- Maintain kitchen equipment and appliances in good working condition
- Report any maintenance issues to the Food Services Manager
- Work effectively with other kitchen staff, including kitchen aides and dietary aides, to ensure smooth meal service operations
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment
- Complete and maintain required documentation, such as food temperature logs and cleaning schedules, to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
