We are currently hiring both full-time and part-time Cook positions at Midwestern State University, offering a range of shifts to accommodate different schedules including morning and evening shifts from Monday to Friday. The pay range for this role is competitive, starting at $13.00 per hour and going up to $18.00 per hour based on experience and skills. This position requires immediate starts, and applications are accepted online continuously until all vacancies are filled.

The Cook position is integral to providing high-quality food service that meets all federal, state, and corporate standards. This role requires precision in preparing meals following standardized recipes, ensuring food safety, quality, temperature control, and presentation at all times. Candidates will have 1-3 years of prior cooking experience, with a valid Food Handler certification, and preference will be given to those with experience handling raw chicken, leadership skills, or prior experience with Chick-fil-A. The role emphasizes not only culinary skills but also maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, operating kitchen equipment properly, and assisting in inventory ordering and receiving.

Job Duties

  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules
  • serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
  • cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
  • operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
  • assists in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required
  • reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately
