This position is for a Cook within the GH Food Nutrition department at UCHealth Greeley Hospital, located in Greeley, Colorado. The role is a PRN (pro re nata) position with a work schedule that includes day and evening rotations, offering flexibility for those seeking variable hours. Pay ranges from $19.10 to $24.83 per hour and depends on the applicant's relevant experience. This role requires onsite presence and does not offer hybrid or remote work options.

The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food that is distributed to patients, the hospital cafeteria, and catering services. This includes reviewing menus and special orders to determine the types and quantities of food to be prepared, following standardized recipes, coordinating cooking schedules with supervisors or executive chefs, and ensuring modified diets are prepared accurately as per dietary guidelines. The cook must strictly adhere to food safety standards regarding storage, handling, and preparation, while maintaining work area sanitation and cleanliness. Critical thinking and decisive judgment are crucial in this fast-paced environment. The role requires minimal supervision and demands efficiency and the ability to make sound decisions to ensure timely and quality food service to support patient health and satisfaction.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or in lieu of HS/GED satisfactory completion of UCHealth-administered basic competency test
  • Minimum one year of experience
  • Ability to work day and evening rotations

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or satisfactory completion of UCHealth-administered basic competency test

Job Duties

  • Review menu and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items to be prepared
  • Follow standardized recipes in preparation of all foods
  • Plan cooking schedule with supervisor and/or executive chef to ensure food will be ready at specified times
  • Confer with supervisor and/or executive chef regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers
  • Adhere to all applicable guidelines regarding storage, handling, and preparation of food as well as sanitation and maintenance of work area
  • Use critical thinking skills and exercise decisive judgment with minimal supervision
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action
