Job Description
Panda Restaurant Group, Inc., established in 1983 in Glendale, California, is the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, with nearly 2,800 locations worldwide. The company has grown significantly over the decades by maintaining a strong commitment to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences. Panda's success is rooted in its dedication to its people, viewing its associates as the heart of the business and the key ingredient in its recipe for success. With a mission to inspire and improve the lives of its team members and to impact the communities it serves, Panda restaurant group fosters a culture grounded in family values and mutual respect.
Panda operates in a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment where innovation and passion for food meet excellent customer service. The restaurants are vibrant, welcoming spaces where guests can enjoy authentic and well-prepared dishes crafted with care and skill by dedicated team members. Panda prides itself on creating a positive, inclusive, and dynamic workplace, committed to equal opportunity employment and diversity across its operations.
The role of Panda Cook is a central and dynamic position within the kitchen team, responsible for food preparation and maintaining the quality standards that guests expect. This role requires passion for culinary arts, attention to detail, and a commitment to service excellence. As a Panda Cook, you will be responsible for preparing all dishes according to Panda’s specific recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality in every meal served. The role also involves supporting a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere for guests, guiding and assisting the kitchen team with training, and performing all back-of-house responsibilities efficiently and safely.
Working as a Panda Cook means being a key leader and contributor to the team’s success. The role demands the ability to work under pressure in a kitchen environment that can be hot, noisy, and fast-moving. It requires physical stamina to stand for long periods, handle kitchen equipment safely, and lift items up to 50 pounds. Effective communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage conflicts with professionalism and tact. This is an opportunity for individuals looking to grow their career in culinary arts and hospitality, with opportunities for advancement into management positions through ongoing career and leadership development programs.
Panda Restaurant Group offers competitive pay ranging from $25 to $28 per hour, depending on experience and location. The company also provides excellent benefits for full-time associates, including medical, vision, dental, and voluntary disability insurance, as well as flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid leave options, associate discounts, referral bonuses, and opportunities for community involvement and personal growth.
Panda Restaurant Group is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for applicants and employees under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and federal, state, and local laws. The company promotes an inclusive culture where all individuals are welcomed and valued regardless of gender, race, age, disability, or other protected characteristics. By joining Panda, you become part of a supportive family-oriented company where you can develop your skills, contribute your talents, and share in the excitement of delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences to guests every day.
