This position is open on an on-call basis, offering a wage of $21.00 per hour. The Cook will be responsible for preparing food according to prescribed diet specifications, facility procedures, and dietary and sanitary regulations. Reporting to the Dietary Services Manager, this position requires a dependable, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual who enjoys cooking for others and is committed to supporting the health and well-being of residents. The Cook will play a vital role in maintaining hygiene standards, portion control, and proper food storage to uphold the facility’s commitment to quality care.\n\nIdeal candidates will work well under supervision, demonstrate attention to detail, and have a passion for preparing meals that cater to diverse dietary requirements. The Cook will also be expected to help with cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment, and utensils to maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment. This role involves working in environments near ovens, stoves, and walk-in refrigerators/freezers. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- must possess a Food Handler’s permit / ServSafe certification as per State requirements
- must have the ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in English
- must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families and to work cooperatively with other associates
- must pass criminal background investigation and reference inquiry

Job Duties
- Prepare and serve food and meals in accordance with planned menus, diet plans, recipes, portion, and temperature control procedures and facility policies
- direct and assist in cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment and floors, dishes and utensils
- check all trays for menu and diet preferences and accuracy
- ensure proper storage of food and supplies
- adhere to universal precautions and sanitary, safety, and infection control policies and procedures
- be able to work in a non-temperature regulated environment (work near ovens, stoves, enter walk in refrigerators/freezers)
- ensure that food and supplies are available for the next meals and assist in inventorying and storing incoming foods and supplies
- report any hazardous conditions, equipment, accidents, and incidents
