Job Description

Golden Palms Rehabilitation and Retirement is a historic retirement community and skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility located in Harlingen, Texas. Dedicated to providing high-quality care and services to its residents, Golden Palms offers a welcoming and supportive environment where seniors can enjoy comfort, dignity, and respect. The facility is well-known for its comprehensive rehabilitation services, compassionate nursing care, and vibrant community life. With a focus on improving the quality of life for elderly residents, Golden Palms combines excellent medical care with a range of amenities that contribute to the overall well-being of its community members. The team at Golden Palms values teamwork, professionalism, and a patient-centered approach, ensuring that every resident feels appreciated and cared for.

The role of Cook at Golden Palms Rehabilitation and Retirement is an essential position within the dietary services team. The Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving meals that are delicious, nutritious, and aligned with planned menus as well as therapeutic dietary requirements. This position is full-time with variable shifts, offering an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in a healthcare setting and have a passion for helping others through food service. The Cook plays a vital role in ensuring that residents receive meals that are not only palatable but also meet their specific dietary needs. By following standardized recipes and special diet orders, the Cook helps support the health and wellness of residents.

In this role, the Cook must be attentive to detail, ensuring that meals are prepared safely, attractive in presentation, and served in proper portions. Responsibilities include preparing substitute foods for residents who refuse standard meal options and ensuring that residents' individual dietary care plans are reviewed and followed accurately. The Cook will also coordinate closely with nursing staff and dietitians to accommodate any special diet changes and implement recommended dietary modifications. Administrative duties such as completing required forms and reports and maintaining menu records in accordance with facility policies are also part of the role.

The ideal candidate will be someone who thrives in a collaborative team environment, communicates effectively with supervisors and co-workers, and demonstrates a commitment to quality food preparation and service. Prior experience in a skilled nursing facility is preferred but not mandatory, making this a suitable position for cooks seeking to transition into healthcare or diversify their culinary experience. Golden Palms offers a respectful workplace culture where employees feel valued and supported while making a meaningful difference in the lives of the residents they serve.
