The Cook position at Mazzio's is a vital role responsible for planning, preparing, and cooking various food items to ensure the highest quality and satisfaction for customers. This role involves meticulous attention to food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures to maintain safety and freshness standards. Cooks at Mazzio's work closely with kitchen crew and management to deliver consistent, tasty, and visually appealing meals. In this role, the cook measures and mixes ingredients for a variety of dishes, including salads, sauces, dough, cheeses, pizza crust, vegetables, sandwiches, and casseroles. They are responsible for baking, frying, microwaving, and cooking main dishes while ensuring proper temperature control and visual and sensory inspection to confirm the quality of the food. Additionally, the cook maintains cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen, including washing and sanitizing containers, utensils, preparation areas, and kitchen equipment. This role also includes monitoring thermostats on ovens, steam kettles, hot holding equipment, and pasta cookers, reporting any malfunctions or needed repairs to management promptly.

The physical demands of the job require stamina and strength, as cooks frequently stand for 8-12 hour shifts, including early mornings, lunch, afternoons, dinner, and late night hours. The role may involve lifting, pushing, pulling, and frequent walking, with occasional breaks for sitting.
