The full-time Cook position at Life Care is vital in maintaining the quality and nutritional standards for patients. The cook will be responsible for preparing and serving meals that meet the specific dietary needs and preferences of patients, adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational standards. This role requires availability for both morning (5:15 am - 1:00 pm) and afternoon (11:00 am - 7:00 pm) shifts to ensure consistent meal service throughout the day. The cook must demonstrate proficiency in cooking large quantities of food, knowledge of special dietary requirements, and follow strict safety and sanitation protocols. Additionally, the role calls for excellent customer service skills to interact positively with patients and the healthcare team. The position demands a high level of professionalism and confidentiality, along with the ability to make independent decisions in alignment with Life Care’s policies and code of conduct. Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • One year experience in food preparation preferred
  • Experience in preparing and cooking food in large quantities
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Knowledgeable of post acute care facility laws, regulations, and guidelines
  • Ability to implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Proficient in patient rights, safety, and sanitation competency areas
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships and confidentiality
  • Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Adhere to Life Care's Code of Conduct and complete mandatory compliance training
  • Availability for both AM and PM shifts

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • One year experience in food preparation preferred
  • Experience in preparing and cooking food in large quantities
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures as well as laws and regulations governing functions in a post acute care facility
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Proficient in all competency areas including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain professional working relationships and confidentiality

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve meals that are appetizing in both taste and appearance and appropriate for each patient
  • Knowledgeable of ordered diets as well as food consistency
  • Ensure food and supplies for the next meal are readily available
  • Serve meals and snacks in a timely manner
  • Utilize production tools and recipes provided to prepare meals and snacks
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients
