Job Description
Panda Restaurant Group, Inc., founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, is the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States. With close to 2,800 locations worldwide, Panda is dedicated to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences and building an organization where people are inspired to better their lives. The company embraces family values and operates with a strong commitment to community involvement and employee growth. Panda is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusivity in the workplace, complying with all federal, state, and local laws regarding workplace accommodations and non-discrimination.
The role of a Cook at Panda Restaurant Group is central to the success of the kitchen and overall dining experience. As a Cook, you will be an important leader in the kitchen team, responsible for preparing food with passion, delivering service with heart, and creating a welcoming ambiance for guests. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment that values growth and teamwork. Your responsibilities will include supporting a vibrant and welcoming environment for guests, preparing dishes according to company recipes and standards, guiding the kitchen team, assisting with training, and performing all back of house duties. The role demands efficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain quality output under pressure.
Working as a Cook at Panda means joining a team that is proud of its family-oriented culture and commitment to excellence. The company offers flexible schedules and competitive pay. It provides comprehensive benefits for full-time associates, including medical, vision, dental insurance, voluntary short-term disability, and cancer income protection insurance. Additional benefits include health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, 401K with company match, paid vacation, sick leave, bereavement leave, associate discounts, referral bonuses, and opportunities for community engagement. Panda also invests in its employees through hands-on paid training, ongoing career and leadership development, and opportunities for growth into management positions.
The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in hot, fast-paced kitchen environments with high noise levels. Candidates must have effective verbal communication skills, adaptability to changing priorities, and the ability to manage conflicts. Compliance with local food safety requirements, including obtaining Food Handler certification at the applicant's expense, is also necessary.
Panda Restaurant Group’s inclusive culture ensures that all employees, regardless of their background or circumstances, have the opportunity to thrive. Reasonable accommodations are provided as needed to ensure all candidates have equal access to the hiring process and the workplace. This commitment makes Panda a welcoming and supportive place to work, enabling employees to contribute their best efforts toward creating memorable dining experiences for guests while advancing their own careers.
