This particular role is for a Food Service Cook, a vital position responsible for the preparation, cooking, service, and distribution of food aligned with approved menus tailored for patients, residents, employees, and visitors. This is a regular, full-time position primarily scheduled during the day shift from 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, working 72 hours over a two-week period. The work schedule includes every other weekend and holiday rotations, offering a balance between work commitments and personal life. The pay range for this position is competitive, ranging from $18.75 to $23.00 per hour, with the actual pay rate determined by the candidate's experience and qualifications.
The Food Service Cook plays a collaborative role within a multidisciplinary team, supporting the mission, vision, core values, and social principles of Avera. The role entails preparing all food items for diverse meal services including patients, residents, cafeteria staff, and special functions, ensuring that the food quality, sanitation, and efficiency standards are consistently met. This position requires a candidate who is detail-oriented, efficient, and dedicated to delivering excellent customer service by adhering to established dietary procedures and scripts developed for Food Services. The employee will also contribute to menu recommendations, comply with all food safety and hygiene standards, and complete daily cleaning assignments as part of maintaining a safe and pleasant food preparation environment.

Job Qualifications
- High school or GED equivalent
- servsafe certificate - National Restaurant Association upon hire
- less than 1 year food service/cooking related education and/or training
Job Duties
- Prepares all food items for patients/residents, meal service, staff, cafeteria, and special functions
- meets standards established by appropriate leader for food preparation, quality, sanitation, and efficiency
- delivers all products according to time schedule set for the specific item
- makes recommendations to leader for all menus
- completes daily assigned cleaning in accordance with approved standards
- responsible for delivering excellent customer service by utilizing the appropriate scripts developed for Food Services
- ensures that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies
- completes additional tasks as assigned
