Job Description
Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. is a renowned leader in the American Chinese restaurant industry, founded in Glendale, California, in 1983. As the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, Panda Restaurant Group boasts nearly 2,800 locations globally, reflecting its immense growth and success. The organization's mission centers around delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences by fostering an environment where employees are encouraged and inspired to improve their lives. This mission extends to positively impacting both its team members and the communities in which it operates. Embodying strong family values, the company is not only dedicated to quality cuisine and customer satisfaction but also to creating a supportive, inclusive, and diverse workplace.
This role is for a Cook within Panda Restaurant Group, a critical position that serves as the heart of the kitchen and an essential leader within the team. The Cook plays a pivotal role in creating dishes with passion and adhering strictly to company recipes and standards. Every item prepared ensures consistency in quality and taste, enhancing the overall dining experience for guests. The position demands a dynamic individual capable of thriving in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment where teamwork and communication are key. Beyond food preparation, the Cook is integral in fostering a welcoming atmosphere for all guests, contributing to the vibrant environment that defines Panda restaurants.
As a vital member of the kitchen team, the Cook offers guidance and training to other team members, supporting their development and ensuring seamless operations in the back of the house. Duties include multitasking in often busy and confined kitchen spaces, executing various back-of-house responsibilities, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient cooking environment. The role demands adaptability, effective verbal communication, and the ability to manage conflicts or challenging situations that may arise during the shift. Physical endurance is required as the role involves standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working with specialized kitchen tools in a hot and noisy environment.
Panda Restaurant Group recognizes the value of its people and positions its employees as the recipe for success. The company is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusivity, ensuring that all team members feel wanted and valued regardless of background or personal characteristics. Additionally, Panda strongly supports workplace accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act to ensure equitable participation in the hiring process and employment.
Working as a Cook at Panda Restaurant Group offers flexible scheduling and competitive pay, complemented by comprehensive benefits for eligible full-time associates. These benefits encompass medical, vision, and dental insurance options, voluntary disability and cancer income protection insurance, health care flexible spending accounts, 401(k) with company match, as well as paid vacation, sick leave, bereavement leave, and leave sharing programs. The company also provides associate discounts across many brands, referral bonuses, and opportunities to contribute to community initiatives. Moreover, Panda Restaurant Group invests heavily in the advancement of its employees through hands-on paid training, ongoing career and leadership development, and clear pathways for growth into management positions.
Overall, the Cook role at Panda Restaurant Group is an opportunity to join a thriving, mission-driven company where your passion for food, commitment to service, and leadership abilities can flourish. This position is ideally suited for those who appreciate a fast-paced hospitality environment, value teamwork, and aspire to build a lasting career within one of America’s most celebrated culinary brands.
