Job Description

Quick Check is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join its back-of-house team. This role is integral to the smooth operation of the kitchen and food preparation area, playing a vital part in delivering high-quality food products to customers. As a Cook, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe preparation and cooking of all food items offered at Quick Check. You will ensure that all food handling and sanitation standards are rigorously followed to maintain a clean and compliant kitchen environment. This position demands attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.

The Cook role at Quick Check involves more than just food production; it includes maintaining organization and cleanliness of the kitchen, adhering to company policies, and assisting with inventory management by receiving vendor deliveries. You will be expected to understand the full menu and prepare each item to meet Quick Check’s quality standards. Operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently is essential, as well as performing thorough cleaning and sanitation of food preparation areas.

This position requires flexibility in working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support store operations. The successful candidate will need to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and pass a background check. Physical stamina is important, as the role includes standing for extended periods and lifting moderate weights. Effective teamwork and a positive attitude towards assisting colleagues are highly valued.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Successful completion of a background investigation
  • Ability to successfully obtain a Food Handler's Certificate
  • Strong teamwork skills and a willingness to assist team members
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours during a shift
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring pushing, pulling, stretching, and continuous bilateral use of fingers and wrists

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a food preparation or kitchen role preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions
  • Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain

Job Duties

  • Adhere to all company guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards during all food preparation
  • Receive vendor deliveries as required
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of all menu items and their preparation
  • Operate all kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Clean, sanitize, and stock food preparation areas thoroughly
  • Perform other back-of-house tasks as directed by the store manager
