Job Description
Panda Restaurant Group, Inc., founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, is the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States. With nearly 2,800 locations worldwide, they have built a strong reputation for delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences while fostering a work environment that attracts and nurtures passionate, talented individuals. The company prides itself on its strong family values and its commitment to positively impacting both its team members and the communities it serves. Panda Restaurant Group emphasizes inclusion and equal opportunity, ensuring a supportive workplace where all employees can thrive regardless of their background or personal characteristics.
Panda Cook associates play a vital role within the organization as leaders in their teams and the heart of the kitchen operations. They are responsible for preparing food with passion, delivering exceptional service with a heartfelt approach, and maintaining a welcoming ambiance with pride. Working as a Cook for Panda means embracing a central position in a fast-paced, dynamic, and growth-oriented environment. These associates support the creation of a vibrant and inviting atmosphere for guests while adhering strictly to company recipes and standards to ensure food quality and consistency. Beyond cooking, Cooks also guide and assist in training the Kitchen Team to maintain operational excellence.
The role demands strong multitasking skills, effective verbal communication, adaptability to changing priorities, and the ability to manage conflicts and difficult situations professionally. Employees must be able to work safely and efficiently with kitchen equipment such as Chinese cook knives, withstand standing for extended periods, and lift up to 50 pounds. They must maintain accuracy and speed while working in often hot, noisy, and space-restricted kitchen environments.
Panda values its associates by offering flexible schedules, great pay ranging from $18.50 to $21.50 per hour (depending on location and experience), free meals during shifts, and a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees which includes medical, vision, dental insurance, and several voluntary insurance options. Additional benefits include Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending accounts, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid time off including vacation, sick leave, bereavement, and a leave share program. Employees also enjoy associate discounts, referral bonuses, hands-on paid training, ongoing career and leadership development opportunities, and potential for growth into management roles.
This role is a perfect fit for individuals who are passionate about culinary arts, have a strong work ethic, and want to make a meaningful impact through their work in the restaurant industry while advancing their careers within a supportive and values-driven company. Panda Restaurant Group encourages diversity and inclusion, making every associate feel wanted and valued from day one. Whether you are starting your career or looking for growth in the food service industry, this position provides numerous advantages and a chance to join a nationally recognized and family-oriented brand.
