Job Description

Intermountain Health is a leading healthcare organization known for its commitment to community wellness and delivering high-quality healthcare services across the western United States. As a not-for-profit health system, Intermountain Health operates a network of hospitals, clinics, and care facilities providing comprehensive medical services with a focus on patient-centered care. One of their facilities, Primary Children's at Lehi in Utah, is dedicated to specialized pediatric care and part of the Intermountain Health system. This facility emphasizes compassionate healthcare delivery to children and their families, supported by experienced medical and operational teams.

This job opportunity is for a Food Production Worker at Primary Children's at Lehi, located in Lehi, Utah. The position is primarily on a PRN basis — meaning as needed or on call — with work availability required on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The role involves preparing and cooking food, serving customers, and performing a variety of food production duties under general supervision in a healthcare environment. The hourly pay range for this position is approximately $18.84 to $24.50, based on the applicant's experience. The schedule flexibility is important given the nature of the healthcare environment and the need for adaptable staffing support.

The Food Production Worker role is essential in maintaining food safety, quality, and efficient production processes within the hospital’s food service operations. Duties include following precise recipes and instructions, preparing bulk food items, facilitating large-scale food production, and assembling specialty meals for patients and catering events. In this position, working with diverse customer environments including retail outlets, patient care settings, and catering venues is expected. The role may also involve tasks such as delivering patient meals, cashiering, stocking inventory, and operating both automatic and manual ware-washing machines.

An organized and sanitary working environment is critical. Food safety and sanitation regulations must be consistently upheld to ensure patient and customer health are not compromised. The position requires attention to detail in the rotation and management of food products and demands an individual capable of independent work along with effective team collaboration. Additionally, skills in communication, reading, organizing, and following instructions accurately are needed to succeed.

Candidates must hold, or be able to obtain by their first day of work, a valid Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification (this is mandatory for employment in Utah and Idaho). Strong English communication skills, safe food handling practices, and an understanding of production workflows are also important. Preference is given to candidates who can provide exceptional customer service and have experience preparing food according to modified diets. Familiarity with commercial cooking equipment is a plus.

The physical demands of this position include standing for extended periods, lifting and moving equipment or supplies of varying weights, and tolerating temperature extremes such as working near grills or in refrigerated environments. Manual dexterity and the ability to interact effectively with customers and team members are essential.

Intermountain Health is dedicated to employee well-being, offering a comprehensive benefits package aiming to support the mind, body, and spirit. They value diversity and provide equal employment opportunities without discrimination. This position offers a meaningful way to contribute to a respected healthcare organization while advancing skills in food production in a fast-paced, healthcare-oriented food service setting.
