Job Description

Summit is a respected brand specializing in serving correctional institutions, ensuring that incarcerated individuals across the United States have access to delicious and healthy meals at every meal service. As part of Elior North America, one of the leading providers in the foodservice industry, Summit is dedicated to promoting employee growth, diversity, and inclusivity while fostering skill development across various levels of the organization. Elior North America is recognized for its commitment to equal employment opportunities and encourages applicants from all backgrounds to apply, creating a workplace that supports advancement and personal development.

This full-time, onsite cook position is based in Marietta, Georgia, within Summit's correctional facility kitchen division. The role provides an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about high-quality culinary work and eager to thrive in a fast-paced, efficient kitchen environment. As a cook, you will be a vital part of a highly motivated and energetic kitchen staff, preparing meals that meet quality and portion control standards while adhering to strict food handling policies. This position demands excellent attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and a commitment to maintaining safe and sanitary kitchen conditions.

Compensation for the role starts at $18.00 per hour, reflecting the importance of the position within this specialized foodservice segment. Beyond competitive pay, the role offers numerous benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage for full-time employees, as well as supplemental voluntary insurance plans, commuter benefits, employee assistance programs, and retirement savings through 401(k). Paid time off, holiday pay, and tuition reimbursement further support work-life balance and professional growth.

Working in the correctional environment with Summit also means contributing to a meaningful mission; providing incarcerated individuals not only with nutritious meals but also offering vital social interaction during mealtimes. This unique aspect of the job adds a rewarding dimension to the role, as you help improve the quality of life for those in a challenging setting. The kitchen team is expected to uphold high culinary standards, creatively presenting food while maintaining rigorous hygiene and food storage protocols.

If you have at least one year of culinary experience, preferably in a high-volume, scratch-cooking setting, and excellent customer service skills, this position is ideal. Summit seeks individuals who understand culinary methods and techniques and who can identify and utilize various kitchen equipment and food items effectively. While food handler certification is a plus, it is not mandatory. The role promises personal and professional development opportunities within a company committed to employee success across its multiple segments.

Joining Summit means becoming part of a team that values hard work, growth, and respect. You will gain valuable skills and experiences that can propel your culinary career forward, whether you continue with Summit, expand within Elior North America, or pursue other opportunities.
