Wesley Court is one of the supportive communities under the Lifespace umbrella located in Abilene, Texas, at 2617 Antilley Road. The community is currently seeking cooks to join their team under new management. The role offers a competitive hourly pay range from $15.24 to $21.00, with starting pay at $16.50 or more, based on experience. As a cook at Wesley Court, you will collaborate closely with the kitchen team to ensure timely and effective meal production tailored to the nutritional needs and preferences of senior residents. The position requires following designated recipes and menu requirements meticulously to prepare food items that meet high standards for quality, temperature, and presentation. The cook is responsible for preparing plates, garnishing food for residents and guests, and coordinating food production schedules to align with meal service hours. Ensuring food safety is a top priority, including monitoring food temperatures, proper food storage, and maintaining sanitation in compliance with state and local regulations.
Applicants should bring previous cooking experience, knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, inventory management, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced team-oriented environment. Strong communication skills and flexibility with work schedules are essential to succeed in this role. Additionally, possessing a food handler certification and a state-certified safe food handling and sanitation credential (if applicable in the applicant's state) is required.

Job Duties
- collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure timely and effective meal production
- prepare all food items per menu requirements following designated recipes
- prepare plates and garnish food items to be served to residents and guests

- ensure food safety by monitoring food temperatures and use proper food storage techniques in accordance with state and local standards
- maintain work area in a safe and sanitary condition including cleaning cooking equipment and other kitchen areas as assigned
