Job Description
Aparium Hotel Group is an innovative hospitality brand founded in 2011 that emphasizes creating unique and memorable experiences for guests through a deep connection to the local surroundings. Managing distinguished properties like The Populus, the group blends the efficiency and scale of large hotel companies with the intimate charm of boutique hotels. Aparium Hotel Group operates in smaller markets where it fosters a strong sense of place, community, and character. Recognized by Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards, the brand is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within its workforce and creating an environment where every team member is valued for who they are. The group is an equal opportunity employer and an E-Verify participant, ensuring fair employment practices across all levels of the organization.
The Populus, one of Aparium's standout properties, is a dynamic social club and hotel that redefines traditional hospitality norms by embracing a bold, sophisticated, and countercultural ethos. It emphasizes collaboration, open-mindedness, and a no-ego atmosphere among its team, creating a workplace culture that celebrates innovation and mutual respect. The hotel offers an energetic and creative environment, driven by a philosophy that connects guests through shared experiences inspired by their surroundings and each other.
The Line Cook role at The Populus reports directly to the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs and is a non-exempt position. The Line Cook plays a crucial role in the culinary team by working directly under the culinary leadership to develop and execute scratch-made dishes, adhering to high standards of food preparation, presentation, and safety. This position requires individuals who are task-oriented, collaborative, and committed to continuous learning in the culinary arts. The Line Cook must demonstrate foundational knowledge of culinary techniques, uphold company values centered around people, place, and character, and actively contribute to a team environment that prizes transparency and mutual respect.
This position offers a base hourly rate of $19.29 with the potential for increased earnings through tips pooled among hourly associates. Applicants should have at least one year of experience working as an entry-level cook or higher in a fast-paced kitchen environment and possess the ability to communicate effectively, adapt to dynamic workflow demands, and maintain high standards of hygiene and safety according to established guidelines. The role also requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 25 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Working at Aparium Hotel Group means being part of a forward-thinking organization that values each team member's contributions, fosters professional growth through continuous feedback, and encourages open communication. The Line Cook will have ample opportunities to engage with culinary leadership through daily briefings and feedback sessions aimed at refining skills and promoting operational excellence. There is a shared commitment to maintaining a diverse, inclusive workplace while delivering unparalleled guest experiences through culinary innovation and teamwork. This role is ideal for culinary professionals eager to advance their craft in a supportive and visionary hospitality environment.
