Job Description
Enloe Health Nutrition and Food Service Department is a union-represented division that focuses on providing high-quality nutritional services in a healthcare setting. Their dedicated team works across various kitchen stations to ensure patients and customers receive nutritious, freshly prepared meals that meet dietary guidelines and safety standards. This department is part of a larger effort within Enloe Health to support the health and well-being of its community through thoughtful food service. \n\nThomas Cuisine, founded in 1986, is the award-winning, privately held contract food service company responsible for preparing these meals. They specialize in advocating the healing power of whole foods and emphasize preparing scratch-made cuisine fresh daily. Thomas Cuisine values its team members as ambassadors who embody the company’s mission, uphold its values, and build positive relationships while maintaining integrity and doing the right thing. Thomas Cuisine is committed to employing individuals who support their vision of food as a key part of healing and wellness. \n\nThe role available is a part-time Cook position starting at a competitive wage of $20.50 per hour, dependent on experience verified by an employment check. This position demands flexibility with open availability for shifts and days, including weekends and holidays. The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving a variety of food items following established recipes, dietary guidelines, and food safety standards. Working in a fast-paced environment, the Cook operates across multiple kitchen stations—including hot food preparation, cold food assembly, baking, and grilling—to deliver fresh, high-quality meals. \n\nThis job requires maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, operating kitchen equipment safely, monitoring food quality during preparation, assembling and serving meals that comply with dietary restrictions such as IDDSI texture-modified diets, and ensuring inventory levels are maintained. Additionally, the Cook must follow infection control protocols and safety procedures in accordance with regulatory bodies like CDPH, CMS, and the Joint Commission. \n\nThe position also involves handling and organizing food supplies, receiving deliveries, and maintaining accurate documentation such as temperature logs and cleaning checklists. Communication skills and teamwork are important as the Cook provides informed and courteous service to customers or patients, including answering questions about ingredients and allergens. The employer provides an inclusive environment, emphasizing diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and equal opportunity. The company is dedicated to creating a workplace where all employees feel safe, valued, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. Thomas Cuisine also offers benefits such as an employee referral program, on-demand pay, and eligibility for 401(k) plans.
