The role of the Back-of-House team member at Shakey's is integral to the overall success of the restaurant. Beginning with a starting rate of $16.50 per hour, this hourly position involves working in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The BOH positions include cooking, dough rolling, buffet attending, and dishwashing. New team members are trained to perform at one of these stations initially, but there is encouragement and support to learn additional stations, broadening skill sets and increasing flexibility in scheduling. Working behind the scenes at Shakey's BOH means focusing on food preparation duties such as making fresh dough daily, cooking delicious pizzas and other signature items, and maintaining sanitary conditions in the kitchen and storage areas. BOH team members are essential in ensuring food safety, proper ingredient storage, and timely restocking of buffet and salad bars. The role also includes cleaning tasks such as washing cookware and kitchen utensils and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the kitchen floor and workstations. Members of the BOH team work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to provide the best guest experience possible. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation standards
  • Experience working in a kitchen environment preferred
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Willingness to learn multiple Back-of-House stations
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation
  • Good physical stamina for standing and lifting
  • Team player with good communication skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook food following Shakey's guidelines and safe food handling procedures
  • Set up and re-stock food items on the buffet line and salad bar
  • Ensure proper storage and rotation of food products and ingredients
  • Stock station with ingredients and supplies, as required
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary food preparation work area
  • Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors
