The Food Services Department at Sentara Leigh Hospital is currently seeking a full-time Cook to join its dynamic team. This role involves working 36 hours per week on a rotating shift schedule, including days, evenings, and every other weekend. The position offers up to a $2,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates, emphasizing the value the hospital places on recruiting skilled culinary professionals committed to supporting patient and staff nutrition.

As a Cook at Sentara Leigh Hospital, your primary responsibility will be preparing all hot foods served in patient tray lines, the hospital café, and various functions. This includes entrees, vegetables, starches, and bakery items. The hospital requires candidates to have a Food Handler’s card certification, in compliance with local health department standards, ensuring a safe and hygienic food preparation environment. While experience is preferred, candidates with equivalent skills in the absence of formal education will be considered, reflecting the inclusive hiring practices of the institution.
