Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. is a renowned and family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept that was founded in Glendale, California, in 1983. Over the decades, it has grown into the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant brand in the United States, boasting close to 2,300 locations globally. The company's mission is to deliver exceptional Asian dining experiences by nurturing an organization where employees are inspired to improve their lives. At Panda Restaurant Group, family values are deeply embraced, reflecting in the warmth of their establishments and the culture they foster among their team members. The restaurants serve as the heart and soul of the company, contributing significantly to its success by creating vibrant and welcoming environments for guests. The group prides itself on creating opportunities for growth and career advancement within a supportive community that values diversity and equal opportunity.

The role of a Cook at Panda Restaurant Group is pivotal, as associates are regarded as important leaders and the core of the kitchen team. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about food preparation, service excellence, and fostering a positive dining atmosphere. The Cook will be responsible for preparing all dishes according to company recipes and standards to maintain quality and consistency. This fast-paced and growth-oriented environment provides a dynamic workplace where associates can develop skills and contribute meaningfully to the team’s success. The Cook will also support the kitchen team by guiding and assisting with their training, ensuring a high standard of culinary performance and teamwork. This role requires agility, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining accuracy and compliance with food safety regulations.

Candidates for this role should have at least some high school education, with a preference for operations experience in the food service industry. Local or municipal food safety certifications, such as a Food Handler certification, are required and must be acquired at the applicant’s own expense. The role involves physical demands including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in an environment that may be hot and noisy. The ability to use kitchen equipment and knives safely and effectively, good verbal communication skills, and adaptability to changing priorities are essential. Panda Restaurant Group is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to applicants and employees as mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The company offers competitive pay ranging from $25 to $28 per hour, depending on location and experience. Benefits for full-time associates include medical, vision, dental insurance, voluntary short-term disability and cancer income protection insurance, 401K with company match, flexible spending accounts, paid time off including vacation and sick leave, and associate discounts among others. The role also offers flexible scheduling, free meals during work shifts, hands-on paid training, and ongoing career and leadership development with opportunities for advancement into management positions. Panda Restaurant Group values its employees and strives to create a work environment where everyone can thrive, contribute to community initiatives, and feel genuinely wanted and supported within the team.
