Job Requirements

  • Two years of related experience required
  • Associates degree or certificate in culinary arts preferred
  • Ability to read, understand and follow standardized recipes, production sheets, and therapeutic and mechanically altered diets required
  • Strong knowledge of sanitation practices and food services regulations preferred
  • Experience preparing a wide variety of foods including soups, sauces, and gravies preferred
  • Good written, oral, organizational, and basic computer skills

Job Duties

  • Provides an enjoyable dining experience for residents while maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe environment
  • Reports any environmental situation that could threaten resident safety
  • Uses chemicals, cleaning agents, and equipment safely according to food safety regulations
  • Handles, prepares, stores, and serves food following sanitary and safety best practices
  • Monitors and documents food and refrigerator/freezer temperatures
  • Completes dining services duties timely under supervisor direction according to dietary policies
  • Oversees preparation and cooking of food to maintain high-quality standards
  • Monitors meals for flavor, appearance, and temperature and takes corrective actions
  • Disposes of food waste safely and hygienically
  • Uses dining equipment safely and performs routine cleaning and maintenance
  • Reports equipment or environmental issues requiring corrective action
  • Produces forecasted food amounts using production worksheets and recipes
  • Records prepared and leftover food amounts
  • Supervises Food Services staff in absence of Dietary Management
