Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- minimum two years culinary experience preferably in an institutional setting
- must pass written culinary exam
- Serv Safe Certification within 60 days
- vaccinated for Influenza and COVID-19 or exemption
- ability to work day and evening shifts including every other weekend and holiday rotation
- capable of maintaining food safety and sanitation standards
- good organizational and communication skills
Job Qualifications
- equal to completion of four years of high school or the equivalent
- judgment and planning skills required for food preparation
- a minimum of two years culinary experience required institutional experience preferred
- ability to pass Southcoast’s written culinary exam
- Serv Safe Certification required within 60 days of hire
- fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and COVID-19 or exempted by signed statement
Job Duties
- prepare short-order foods made to order foods and Garde Manger
- perform scratch cooking including soups stews chowders chili
- monitor food quality temperature and flavor identify issues via tasting portioning and visual appearance and make corrections
- extend recipes accurately to ensure proper yields and maintain meal costs
- keep production and temperature records up to date report problems to chef or manager on duty
- maintain refrigerators and freezers clean and organized
- follow established sanitation guidelines
