Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior cooking experience preferred
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Capable of standing for long periods
  • Good manual dexterity and sensory skills
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Reliable transportation to work location

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous cooking experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen environment preferred
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers
  • Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow recipes and kitchen procedures accurately
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including early mornings and varied hours

Job Duties

  • Inspect and clean food preparation and serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary practices
  • Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperatures by regulating kitchen equipment
  • Monitor freshness of food and ingredients by checking quality and rotating stock
  • Cook and prepare foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently using tasting, smelling, or thermometers
  • Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods according to recipes
  • Prepare stations according to company guidelines and assist culinary staff as needed
  • Provide excellent customer service including being attentive, approachable, and courteous to residents and guests
