Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Three years’ experience in culinary and kitchen operations
- Proficiency in basic knife skills
- Understanding of kitchen safety
- Valid Florida driver’s license
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group settings
- Ability to calculate figures such as percentages and volume
- Emotional control and patience in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Ability to apply positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies
- Maintains required certifications including CPR, First Aid, and ServeSafe or ability to obtain within 3 months
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, and balance frequently during shifts

Job Qualifications

- Ability to calculate figures such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Strong verbal communication and active listening skills
- Ability to apply empathy and patience when training others
- Commitment to team success and fostering inclusion
- Valid Florida driver’s license
- Maintains required training certifications such as CPR, First Aid, HIV & Infection Control, and Zero Tolerance
- ServeSafe certification preferred or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
Job Duties
- Prepares, cooks, and plates meals based on recipes, timing, and safety standards
- Prepare ingredients by following methods
- slicing, cutting, chopping, mincing, stirring, whipping, and mixing ingredients
- adding seasonings
- verifying taste
- and plating meals
- Ensure meals are hot, fresh, and on time
- Check the food temperature
- Supports participants in learning kitchen tasks
- Models respectful behavior and promotes skill-building and teamwork
- Helps manage ingredient levels and kitchen inventory
- Notifies Chef when stock needs replenishment
- Maintains high standards for cleanliness, organization, and food safety
- Leads by example in upholding daily safety checks and sanitation tasks
- Completes daily kitchen/cafe inspections for safety and maintenance items
- Works closely with the Chef and culinary team
- Communicates respectfully, encourages feedback, and shares ideas for improvement
