Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous cooking experience in a professional kitchen environment
  • Ability to work full-time hours including weekends
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen supplies
  • Strong communication skills
  • Willingness to follow detailed recipes and dietary guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or training or experience cooking in a restaurant environment preferred
  • Knowledge of kitchen basics, sanitation, food handling, portion control and cooking procedures
  • Experience with special diets and long-term care preferred
  • Experience with large batch cooking for 100 or more people

Job Duties

  • Prepare and provide food service using established recipes, diet modifications and menu cycles
  • Assist with food stock deliveries and rotation of products
  • Maintain regulatory log requirements
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety standards by following established cleaning schedules and protocols
  • Communicate with the Dining Director on preparation, production and flow of service
