Job Requirements
- Ability to work extended hours productively
- Must be able to work irregular hours including some nights and weekends
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Ability to follow recipes and perform basic math to calculate production demands
- Strong knowledge of sanitary practices
- Ability to gain ServSafe Certification
- Positive, customer service-oriented attitude
- Must maintain proper grooming and dress code standards
- Must be able to pass criminal background check
- Ability to adhere to strict health and safety regulations
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of two years experience in food service as a prep cook is highly preferred
- ServSafe Certified or able to obtain certification within 90 days
- Knowledge of all major kitchen equipment and appliances
- Ability to properly operate ovens, stoves, grills, steamers, smokers, mixers, kettles, char-broiler and other kitchen equipment
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Strong knowledge of state health codes and sanitation standards
- Ability to adhere to strict grooming standards established by SMG/KCC
- Knowledge and skills in diverse culinary techniques including multi-ethnic cuisine, displays, sauces, protein cutting, plate presentation and sanitation
- Skill in volume production and hands-on cooking
- Ability to perform basic math functions necessary to execute recipes
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Ability to execute large functions
- Ability to read printed words and numbers in printed form and on computer/terminal monitor
- Hearing sufficient to clearly hear voices, alarms, bells and horns
- Must be able to pass criminal background check
Job Duties
- Assist in the preparation of cut vegetables, baked goods, and cold sauces
- Maintain organized sanitary workstation in compliance with industry standards
- Properly label and date food items for storage
- Use cutlery and kitchen machinery
- Minimize waste by following established production techniques
- Follow approved recipes and production standards
- Produce high quality food in a fast-paced environment
- Perform all other work duties as assigned
- Assist with plating of catered meals
- Maintain proper grooming and dress code standards
