Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
at least one (1) years' experience as a cook preferred
applicable state/county licensure
food manager certification required, or ability to obtain
CPR or BLS certification preferred

previous experience as a cook
food manager certification required or ability to obtain
CPR or BLS certification preferred
proficiency in Internet browsers such as Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox
proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, Word and Publisher
familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and HR related systems if applicable

Job Duties

Ensuring the proper preparation, portioning, and serving of foods as indicated on the menu cycle and standardized recipes
tasting and preparing food to determine quality
preparing all special dietary needs as directed by the Dining Services Director and/or menus assigned
determining food and supplies needed and coordinating meal production with serving hours
assisting with proper documentation of temperature logs, taste panel forms, and cleaning schedules
assisting with orientation and training of new kitchen staff
handling food in a safe and appropriate manner
practicing all safety and loss prevention procedures
attending all in-services as required
maintaining safety standards as outlined by Cedar Creek of Bloomington Memory Care guidelines for infection control
utilizing basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
maintaining appropriate food temperatures by ensuring proper cooling/heating procedures are followed and equipment is working properly
remaining current and up to date with all food safety licensing requirements for FDA, state, county, and local authorities along with ensuring all guidelines are adhered to
ensuring effective communication is being utilized by community staff with the residents' families concerning residents' care, encompassing their physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing
working well with others and taking direction from management, as well as taking initiative with the capability to engage in conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees, and others as needed
performing physical duties including standing/moving, communicating, identifying written information, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds independently, and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 200 pounds with assistance
other duties as assigned
