Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous cooking experience in a professional kitchen
  • ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • ability to work full-time including weekends
  • physical ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights
  • effective communication skills
  • attention to detail and organization

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or training or experience cooking in a restaurant environment preferred
  • knowledge of kitchen basics, sanitation, food handling, portion control, and cooking procedures
  • previous experience with special diets and long-term care preferred
  • previous experience with large batch cooking for 100 people or more
  • ability to work full-time with weekend availability
  • strong communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare great meals using established recipes, diet modifications and menu cycles
  • assist with food stock deliveries, rotation of products and regulatory log requirements
  • maintain cleanliness and safety standards by following established cleaning schedules and protocols
  • communicate with the Dining Director on prep, production and flow of service
  • ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
  • support kitchen operations to meet the needs of senior residents
  • manage portion control and food presentation
