Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2-3 years of related work experience
  • Valid ServSafe or Food Handler Certification
  • Ability to maintain personal hygiene and comply with uniform and dress codes
  • Capability to stand and perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work flexible hours including beyond normal shifts
  • Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers, mixers, and slicers
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Compliance with safety, fire, and disaster plans
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • High integrity and honesty

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2-3 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Prior experience in related food service positions
  • Valid ServSafe or other approved Food Handler Certification
  • High level of integrity and honesty
  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills
  • Moderate reading and writing skills
  • Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 lbs or less
  • Manual dexterity
  • Auditory and visual skills
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures
  • Knowledge of restaurant operations
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation

Job Duties

  • Prepares or directs preparation of food served using established production procedures and systems
  • Determines amount and type of food and supplies required using production plans
  • Ensures availability of supplies and food or approved substitutions in adequate time for preparation
  • Sets steam table
  • Serves or ensures proper serving of food for tray line or dining
  • Complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health
  • Observes proper food preparation and handling techniques
  • Stores food properly and safely, marking date
  • Reports necessary equipment repair and maintenance
  • Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food is maintained
  • Apportions food for serving
  • Maintains daily production records
  • Keeps work area neat and clean at all times including dishwashing
  • Cleans and maintains equipment used in food preparation
  • Completes food temperature checks before serving
  • Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene
  • Performs other duties as required or requested
  • Supports safety, fire, and disaster plans and reports unsafe working conditions
  • Maintains confidentiality of all data including food
  • Ensures quality assurance and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Promotes a work environment free from sexual harassment and discrimination
  • Cooperates and works together with all co-workers
  • Uses tactful communications in sensitive situations
  • Follows up on complaints, problems and promotes positive public relations
