Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or satisfactory completion of UCHealth-administered basic competency test
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in food preparation or cooking
  • Ability to work flexible shift schedules
  • Capacity to adhere strictly to food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • No required licensures or certifications

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or satisfactory completion of UCHealth-administered basic competency test
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant cooking experience
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes accurately
  • Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with supervisors and chefs
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Capability to work independently and with minimal supervision

Job Duties

  • Review menu and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items to be prepared
  • Follow standardized recipes in preparation of all foods
  • Plan cooking schedule with supervisor and/or executive chef to ensure food will be ready at specified times
  • Confer with supervisor and/or executive chef regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers
  • Adhere to all applicable guidelines regarding the storage, handling and preparation of food as well as in the sanitation and maintenance of work area
  • Use critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action when necessary
