Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality, tourism management, public relations or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in event planning, coordination or related tourism services
  • Demonstrated leadership and staff management experience
  • Ability to manage budgets and financial reporting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Customer service orientation
  • Proficiency in Customer Relationship Management software
  • Ability to coordinate multiple events and stakeholders
  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Valid driver's license

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Serve as primary department contact with event clients in the development, implementation, and coordination of public events targeted for College Station visitors and residents
  • Establish partnerships with existing leisure events and create complementary activities to boost local tourism efforts and increase economic impacts
  • Oversee and coordinate the work activities of interns or part-time/seasonal staff including interviewing, supervising, training, motivating, evaluating performance, and addressing employee concerns
  • Assess quality of customer service for assigned events through participant surveys and develop methods for improvement
  • Prepare and manage cost center budgets, operational records, reports, and achieve revenue goals
  • Act as liaison by conferring with contractors, area businesses, institutions, and organizations to coordinate programs and event logistics
  • Coordinate hospitality services for conventions events alongside tourism staff and community events
  • Communicate with clients/vendors to identify their preferences and facilitate the process to meet their needs and expectations
  • Coordinate event requirements with meeting planners including vendors and all event logistics from setup to cleanup
  • Oversee and coordinate volunteers including scheduling, supervising, training, and motivating
  • Assist in resolving clients' issues/problems through effective negotiation
  • Maintain inventory in Customer Relationship Management software and upkeep of event equipment
  • Represent department on internal and external committees and boards as requested
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
