Driftwood Hospitality Management fosters a company culture that empowers associates to be proactive, take initiative, and contribute strategically towards overall business success. This culture emphasizes well-defined strategies and objectives, ensuring operational excellence and sustained growth across all managed hotels. The hospitality group operates hotels that run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, addressing the dynamic needs of the industry with flexibility and strong leadership.
The role available at Driftwood Hospitality Management is an Accounting Supervisor position within a full-service hotel environment. This position involves comprehensive supervision of the accounting staff and active participation in the financial management of hotel operations. The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for tasks such as completing month-end closings, maintaining balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting the hotel’s accounting computer systems. Additionally, the role requires training and development of all accounting department associates, maintaining internal audit controls, reviewing daily revenue reports, and tracking daily cash flows. The Accounting Supervisor provides clear and effective communication to staff, assigns work, monitors their performance, and fosters an environment of continuous improvement.
This position assists the Controller in managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and may supervise in the Controller’s absence. The supervisor works closely with other hotel departments to coordinate plans related to profit planning, sales forecasts, expense budgets, capital requirements, and cost controls. Ensuring compliance with tax filing, government reporting, internal policies, legal requirements, and contractual obligations under management agreements is a critical part of the role. A key focus is on protecting the hotel’s assets through appropriate internal controls, audits, and security procedures.
The Accounting Supervisor plays an important role in guest satisfaction by ensuring high standards of customer service within financial operations, interacting with guests when needed, and fostering positive customer relationships. This leader also bears responsibility for leadership within the department, promoting accountability, addressing conflicts, contributing to team success, and effectively managing change. Building solid internal and external relationships is essential to achieving organizational goals, alongside driving talent development through training, hiring, performance evaluations, and recognition programs.
The position offers an opportunity to develop personally and professionally by engaging in ongoing learning and by supporting various initiatives that reinforce the company’s CARE culture. The role requires analytical ability, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and advanced knowledge of accounting, finance, and hospitality norms. Ideal candidates will have at least four years of comparable accounting experience, including at least two years in supervisory positions within a full-service hotel setting. Proficiency in bank and balance sheet reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and advanced use of MS Excel is necessary, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Driftwood Hospitality Management is dedicated to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace and offers competitive benefits including 401(k), health insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, paid time off, and employee discounts. Overall, this Accounting Supervisor role is essential to maintaining the financial integrity and operational success of a vibrant, full-service hotel, contributing directly to the company’s continued excellence in hospitality management.
