The Staff role within Baker Tilly's Tribal Consulting Services practice offers an exceptional opportunity to join a collaborative group dedicated to serving tribal governments. This position plays a crucial role in providing ongoing accounting services and grant management for a diverse clientele of more than 330 unique tribal clients spanning over 130 tribes. The Staff member is expected to deliver superior client service through strong relationship-building and high-value deliverables. Key responsibilities include monthly financial closing, grants management, grant reporting, and preparing journal entries. Additionally, the role involves developing accounting policies and procedures, performing project startup activities, and ensuring accuracy in all completed work. By serving as an integral member of the Business Consulting Services team, this position supports Baker Tilly's mission of superior client service, leveraging collaboration, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and a growth mindset.

Baker Tilly offers competitive pay ranges depending on location, with salaries from $62,000 to $95,610 in Oklahoma and Utah, and $79,800 to $114,730 in Seattle, WA. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 1 year related experience
  • Preferred experience in not for profit and/or governmental sector
  • Proven skills in grants management or financial accounting
  • Strong communication skills
  • Critical thinking ability
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10-15%

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required with emphasis in Accounting or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience, not for profit and/or governmental experience preferred
  • Experience in grants management, financial accounting including account reconciliation, governmental accounting standards implementation, and/or accounts payable processing preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven commitment to providing exceptional client service via multiple communication methods
  • Ability to understand problems, think critically, and identify creative solutions
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Works independently to prioritize work and produce quality results
  • Self-directed professional with strong interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Provides operational, accounting, and consulting services for Tribal governments including monthly closing, grants management, grant reporting, and financial reporting
  • Prepares and records journal entries
  • Develops policies and procedures on key accounting matters
  • Performs project start-up activities such as following project work plans, adhering to schedules, and attending kickoff meetings
  • Reviews work for accuracy
  • Serves as an integral member of the Business Consulting Services team
  • Occasionally travels to client locations, firm trainings, or industry conferences
