Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Two years of experience planning, organizing and/or executing events in convention services, catering, or banquets
- Ability to assist in preparing creative menu offerings
- Knowledge of sales techniques and ability to negotiate and close sales
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and solve problems
- Working knowledge of MS Office and ability to use hotel telephone and computer systems
- Ability to work varying schedules including holidays, weekends and alternate shifts
- Maintain clean appearance and professional demeanor
- Adherence to safety policies and procedures including OSHA regulations and PPE use
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management desired
- Two years of experience planning, organizing and/or executing events with convention services, catering, or banquets
- Ability to assist in preparing creative menu offerings from banquet menu guide
- Experience with food and wine pairing desired
- Ability to understand and participate in monthly forecasting and annual budget process
- Strong knowledge of sales techniques with ability to negotiate and close sales
- Excellent creative skills for innovative set-ups, menus, and functions
- Ability to generate creative and innovative menus while working with Chef on pricing
- Completion of all required training as scheduled
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with commitment to guest satisfaction
- Ability to use discretion with confidential or sensitive information
- Ability to solve problems and remain calm during busy or emergency situations
- Working knowledge of MS Office and ability to learn telephone/computer systems
- Knowledge and experience with audio/visual technology
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals and write reports
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
- Proficiency in English
Job Duties
- Meet with customer to understand needs, offer suggestions, and determine all set-up needs, equipment and menu items
- Anticipate all needs to provide flawless execution of the event
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell services to optimize total revenue potential and guest experience
- Host or participate in site inspections and client presentations to showcase property offerings
- Rebook for future events
- Execute written sales agreements for varied events including full-service meetings, conventions and social and corporate events
- Create and maintain each event's banquet event order outlining all event details including instructions for setup, menu and wine choices
- Maintain contact with customer to ensure accuracy and finalize event details
- Disseminate event information to operational departments to ensure needs are met
- Attend and oversee execution of events to ensure client satisfaction
- Work closely with banquet department on operations and event execution
- Evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action as needed
- Wear closed toe and heel shoes and follow all safety policies including OSHA and PPE protocols
- Report to work on time and regularly
- Maintain organized file management system for sales efforts and client records
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through professional and ethical interactions
- Follow up promptly with customer inquiries and needs
- Resolve guest complaints within scope or escalate to management
- Notify supervisor or security of unusual events or circumstances
