Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three months related experience and/or training
- Must possess a current, valid class A or B Commercial Driver's License
- Must have a current, valid DOT physical card
- Ability to safely operate a concrete mixer truck
- Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally with assistance
- Willingness to comply with safety standards
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions and varying weather
- Good vision to meet job demands
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three months related experience and/or training
- Valid class A or B Commercial Driver's License
- Current valid DOT physical card
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to operate and maintain concrete mixer truck controls
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards
- Ability to assess job site conditions and hazards
- Physically able to perform manual labor including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally with assistance
- Demonstrated professionalism and reliability
Job Duties
- Performs and documents pre-trip and post-trip truck inspections to ensure truck is delivery safe and in compliance with DOT requirements
- Drives truck under loading hopper to receive sand, rock, cement, and water and starts mixer
- Proactively communicates with other delivery colleagues
- Safely drives truck to customer job site for unloading
- Assesses customer job site for hazards and safety concerns
- Professionally represents Thomas Concrete to the customer
- Proactively works with the customer to solve on-site issues and concerns, reports problems to Thomas Concrete management
- Ensures appropriate slump of concrete at the job site
- Handles and assembles concrete chutes
- Proficiently manipulates truck controls to unload concrete
- Completes delivery tickets with arrival time, pour time, and water added
- Maintains a professional personal appearance, including usage of personal protective equipment
- Keeps a clean, well-maintained, and safe truck by rinsing chutes and truck rear after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening on the truck rear and on the peripheral truck equipment
- Cleaning out the truck cab at the end of every shift
- Washing out the truck at end of the shift or as directed by plant manager
- Changing truck tires as needed
- Fueling truck as needed and at the end of the shift
- Regularly participating in the preventative maintenance program
- Completing equipment maintenance requests prior to taking truck to the shop for repairs
- Safely applying chemicals to truck to prevent concrete buildup
- Fully complies with the safety standards of Thomas Concrete
- Contributes to the plant by assisting with various tasks, such as maintenance and housekeeping in and around the work environment
- Builds the culture of Team Thomas by assisting colleagues as needed
