Job Description

Thomas Concrete is a well-established and family-owned company specializing in the supply of high-quality ready-mixed concrete throughout the Southeast. Having operated for over 70 years, Thomas Concrete has built a solid reputation for reliability and excellence in the construction materials industry. The company prides itself on its long-standing tradition of quality service and customer satisfaction while maintaining a modern approach to operations and employee welfare. As a leading supplier, Thomas Concrete supports numerous construction projects, providing essential materials that foster the growth and development of communities in the region.

The role of Local Company Driver at Thomas Concrete offers a rewarding opportunity for experienced and entry-level drivers who are seeking stable, local work with competitive pay and comprehensive benefits. This position is ideal for individuals who value being home daily while engaging in meaningful work that directly impacts the construction sector. Drivers operate specialized trucks equipped with concrete mixers to deliver ready-mixed concrete to various job sites safely and efficiently. The job not only demands operational expertise but also a commitment to maintaining equipment and adhering to safety standards. Compensation for this role starts at $22.25 per hour for entry-level drivers, with pay increases based on experience. Drivers can expect to work an average of 50 to 60 hours per week, with a guaranteed 40-hour minimum and the opportunity to earn time-and-a-half pay for hours worked beyond the standard workweek. Shift differential pay of $2 per hour is also offered, enhancing overall compensation.

Additionally, Thomas Concrete supports its drivers with robust benefits that include health, dental, and vision insurance, which take effect on the first of the month following the hire date. The company also offers a 401(k) plan with an employer match, adding value to the employee's long-term financial security. Commitment to safety is rewarded with quarterly bonuses of up to $650, reinforcing a culture of responsibility and professional pride among employees. The benefit package further includes paid holidays—seven regular holidays plus two floating holidays—and vacation time, underscoring the company’s dedication to work-life balance.

In this role, drivers are responsible for delivering concrete by operating the truck's loading hopper to receive sand, gravel, cement, and water, starting the auxiliary mixer, and accurately moving the concrete to designated sites. Essential duties also include cleaning and maintaining the concrete mixer truck to prevent material hardening, applying protective compounds to truck surfaces, and assembling necessary equipment such as cement chutes. The job requires physical endurance, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to safety and equipment upkeep. As part of a respected local business, drivers will contribute directly to construction projects that shape the community while enjoying dependable earnings and benefits.
