Job Description
Thomas Concrete is a well-established, family owned and operated company that has been a leading supplier of high quality ready-mixed concrete in the Southeast for over 70 years. Known for its commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction, Thomas Concrete combines decades of expertise with modern technology to ensure reliable delivery and superior product quality. As a cornerstone in the construction and building materials industry, the company services a wide variety of jobs from small residential projects to large commercial developments, maintaining strong relationships with clients and local communities alike.
The company prioritizes safety and employee wellbeing, offering comprehensive benefits and competitive pay rates to attract skilled professionals to its team. Thomas Concrete emphasizes a supportive and safety-conscious work environment where employees are valued and development opportunities are abundant.
The Local Company Driver position offers a unique opportunity to join a respected leader in the concrete supply industry. This role primarily involves operating a truck equipped with an auxiliary concrete mixer to deliver ready-mixed concrete to various job sites in the local area. The driver is responsible for ensuring timely and safe delivery of concrete while maintaining the vehicle and mixer to prevent material hardening and ensure optimal performance.
Drivers will receive a starting pay of $22.25 per hour at entry level, with increases based on experience. The position guarantees a 40-hour workweek with time-and-a-half pay for overtime beyond 40 hours. Typically, drivers work between 50 to 60 hours per week. There is also a $2 per hour shift differential pay, encouraging flexibility in scheduling.
Additionally, the company offers substantial benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance effective from the first of the month following the hire date. Retirement planning is supported through a 401K plan with employer match. Employees are also eligible for quarterly safety bonuses that can total up to $650 based on maintaining a clean safety record, as well as paid holidays which include seven fixed holidays and two floating holidays, plus vacation time.
In this role, drivers will operate front and rear discharge trucks, skillfully manipulating levers to release concrete into wheelbarrows, conveying containers, or directly into designated pour areas. Drivers are expected to clean the truck thoroughly after each delivery, spray protective compounds to prevent concrete adhesion, and assemble cement chutes for efficient pouring. The role requires adherence to company safety standards and FMCSA regulations to ensure safety on the road and at the job site.
This position is ideal for motivated individuals with a Class B or Class A CDL license who are looking for steady, home-daily employment with a reputable company that values experience and safety. Thomas Concrete provides a stable and rewarding career path with opportunities for pay advancement and professional growth.
