Job Description

PeaceHealth is a renowned nonprofit healthcare system dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality care with a focus on inclusivity and respect for diversity. Based in Springfield, Oregon, PeaceHealth serves the community with a mission-driven approach that emphasizes caring for the whole person, including patients, their families, and caregivers. Their medical facilities, including the Women’s & Children’s Complex, provide specialized services in areas such as pregnancy, birth, and pediatric care. PeaceHealth is deeply committed to fostering inclusivity, cultural humility, and a supportive work environment. The organization operates with a strong emphasis on community, well-being, and balance, making it an ideal workplace for those who want their work to positively impact lives in meaningful ways.

This part-time position at PeaceHealth’s Women’s & Children’s Complex in Springfield offers 0.60 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) with day shifts lasting 12 hours. The hourly pay ranges from $16.22 to $24.32, with the hiring rate dependent on education, training, work experience, seniority, and applicable collective bargaining agreements. This role is designed for individuals who are exhausted by high-volume, transactional customer service roles and are seeking a position that prioritizes human connection and calm presence.

The role involves being a steady, welcoming face in a highly emotional and significant environment for patients and their families. It is focused on providing presence, kindness, and support to everyone entering the facility, ensuring they feel safe and reassured during what might be some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Unlike typical front desk jobs, this role operates at a slower, more intentional pace, emphasizing relationship-driven interactions over speed.

The individual filling this role will be trusted with autonomy to read social cues, solve problems independently, and guide visitors confidently. The work environment is mission-driven, with a culture that values compassion as much as efficiency. Being part of PeaceHealth means working in a community-focused setting surrounded by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest — forests, rivers, fresh air, and a lifestyle that embraces balance, connection, and well-being.

In this role, the successful candidate will support patients and families during critical times such as pregnancy, birth, and pediatric care. The role's responsibilities extend beyond traditional receptionist duties to include issuing visitor badges, supporting volunteers, coordinating with other departments, and assisting with transport needs. It involves light computer tasks and documentation, as well as helping to maintain the smooth functioning of the lobby area. This position requires someone who can balance kindness and professionalism with calm problem-solving skills.

PeaceHealth offers a comprehensive total rewards package that supports physical, emotional, financial, social, and spiritual well-being. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 403(b) retirement plan with employer contributions, paid time off, tuition assistance, wellness programs, and expanded mental health resources. The organization is also an Equal Employment Opportunity Affirmative Action Employer, welcoming veterans, disabled individuals, and people from all backgrounds in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. This opportunity represents not just a job, but a chance to be part of a compassionate community dedicated to making a meaningful difference in people's lives.
