Job Description
The American Cancer Society (ACS) is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Founded over a century ago, ACS has become one of the most influential and comprehensive cancer organizations in the world. With the commitment of over 1.3 million volunteers and a dedicated staff, ACS is driven by a lifesaving mission to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. The organization works tirelessly through cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient services. ACS fosters a culture rich in diversity, inclusion, and innovation to better serve communities across the United States, ensuring that everyone, regardless of background or circumstance, has access to the resources and support they need to navigate cancer challenges.
The role of Concierge at ACS is essential in delivering excellent customer service as the first point of contact for guests at their facilities. This position is integral in managing front desk operations and maintaining a welcoming, secure, and supportive environment for patients, their families, and visitors. Working Sundays through Thursdays from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, this role offers competitive hourly pay at $18.59. The Concierge is responsible for managing guest check-in and check-out processes, providing detailed information about lodge amenities and community resources, coordinating transportation and EMPOWER Program schedules, and monitoring lobby security to ensure guest safety. The role demands strong interpersonal skills to respond to inquiries, guest requests, concerns, and emergencies efficiently. Additionally, maintaining organized front desk operations and accurate records is crucial for smooth facility management.
Beyond the administrative tasks, the Concierge acts as a vital support resource for guests by assisting with transportation logistics and coordinating specialized services that enable patients and families to focus on their health and healing journeys. This role requires the ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced setting. Candidates must have proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience managing multi-line phone systems. Physical demands include extended periods of standing and walking, occasional lifting, and manual tasks such as carrying luggage and opening doors, emphasizing the need for stamina and physical endurance. ACS supports its staff with generous paid time off, medical, dental, retirement benefits, wellness programs, and professional development opportunities to foster career growth and personal well-being. As a proud equal opportunity employer, ACS values each employee’s unique talents and perspectives in advancing its mission.
