Job Description
Harris Health System is a renowned public healthcare safety-net provider that has been serving the residents of Harris County, Texas, since its establishment in 1966. It plays an essential role in the community by providing comprehensive healthcare services to low-income, uninsured, and underinsured patients. The system offers an array of health services focusing on acute and primary care, wellness, disease management, and population health. Harris Health operates through a robust network consisting of two major hospitals: Ben Taub Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center, and Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, a Level 3 Trauma Center, along with 39 clinics, health centers, specialty locations, and virtual telemedicine technologies. These facilities ensure access to high-quality, patient-centered healthcare across a wide spectrum of medical needs.
Harris Health System is recognized for its commitment to healthcare excellence. It is among the elite group of health systems in the United States that have achieved the prestigious Magnet nursing excellence designation for its hospitals. Additionally, the system’s patient-centered clinics and health centers have been awarded the National Committee for Quality Assurance designation, showcasing its dedication to quality care. Harris Health System also enjoys strong collaborations with nationally recognized academic institutions, including Baylor College of Medicine, McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine at the University of Houston.
The role of Concierge at Harris Health System is pivotal in enhancing the overall patient and visitor experience. Serving as the ambassador at the campus site, the Concierge assists patients and visitors by providing clear directions, patient information, and facilitating transportation needs both within and outside the facility. This position acts as the first point of contact from entry to exit, ensuring that everyone feels welcomed and supported throughout their visit. The Concierge is also responsible for troubleshooting any questions, concerns, or issues, and plays a key role in training and mentoring assigned volunteers. Maintaining desk resources and departmental manuals is another important responsibility, contributing to seamless service delivery. To guarantee continuous service quality, the Concierge is cross-trained across various areas within the system.
This professional role demands strong communication skills, including public speaking and writing capabilities, as well as proficiency with PC and office software like MS Word and MS Excel. Bilingual skills, particularly in English and Spanish, are preferred, reflecting the diverse community Harris Health serves. The position requires flexibility in work schedules, including weekends and holidays, to cater to the system's operational needs. Healthcare experience is preferred but not mandatory; however, excellent customer service skills are essential. Overall, this role is designed for individuals passionate about making a difference in public healthcare by ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment for patients and visitors alike.
