Job Description

SMG is a leading provider of venue management, specializing in delivering exceptional event and entertainment experiences across the United States and globally. Known for managing some of the most iconic venues, SMG focuses on creating memorable experiences for guests and patrons through outstanding service, innovative operations, and community engagement. The company has a commitment to excellence, fostering a dynamic working environment where employees are encouraged to be flexible, creative, and responsive to changing demands. SMG operates venues that host a broad range of events, from concerts and theatrical performances to community gatherings, ensuring that each event is executed flawlessly to exceed expectations.

The Theater Concierge role at SMG is a unique position dedicated to enhancing the experience of theatergoers by providing warm, personalized, and knowledgeable customer service. This position is based at two key venues—the Altria Theater and the Dominion Energy Center in Richmond, Virginia—both renowned for their vibrant cultural offerings and diverse performance schedules. As a Theater Concierge, the successful candidate will act as the face of the theater, building lasting relationships with patrons and ensuring every visit is welcoming and enjoyable.

This role involves anticipating the needs of theater patrons, addressing any concerns with attentiveness and professionalism, and sharing enthusiasm about current and upcoming theater productions. The position demands excellent communication skills, a passion for the theater arts, and the ability to engage patrons in meaningful conversations that enrich their overall experience. Additionally, the Theater Concierge is expected to provide patrons with detailed knowledge not only about the theater but also about the surrounding community, promoting a deeper connection and appreciation for the arts and local culture.

Flexibility is key in this role, as SMG offers a working environment where duties can shift to meet the evolving needs of the venues and patrons. The Theater Concierge may occasionally be called upon to step into the role of an Usher, providing venue support as needed. This requires a poised and professional demeanor, along with the ability to manage multiple patron issues calmly and effectively while upholding company policies.

This full-time position is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about the arts, possess strong interpersonal skills, and thrive in a customer-focused environment. The Theater Concierge plays an essential role in fostering a welcoming atmosphere that elevates each patron's theater experience, encouraging repeat visits and a strong community connection to the venues. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, experience in customer service or public-facing roles, and must be able to pass a background check to be considered for employment.
