Job Description
The Lodge, located in the heart of Sonoma and just steps away from the unique charm and rich history of Sonoma Plaza, stands as a shining example of an authentic and nuanced hospitality experience that celebrates the essence of the region. This esteemed resort is renowned for its hand-crafted touches that pay homage to centuries of local artisans and craftspeople, forging a deep connection to the local culture and heritage. Guests at The Lodge are immersed in an environment that emphasizes quality, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the finer things, including local wines, art, and olive oils, making it more than just a place to stay – it is a place to experience the spirit of Sonoma.
As a welcoming and tightly connected community staple, The Lodge prides itself on fostering an atmosphere where guests feel more like locals and locals feel like friends. This unique approach not only enhances guest satisfaction but also deepens the sense of belonging and pride among all who visit or work there. Associates at The Lodge are known for their heartfelt hospitality, going beyond the basic expectations to deliver memorable and personalized guest experiences that celebrate the region’s charm and character.
The resort is currently seeking a Front Desk Associate to join their hospitality team. This position is a crucial part of the guest service experience, acting as the first and last point of contact for guests arriving at and departing from the hotel. The Front Desk Associate is responsible for a variety of guest service duties, including greeting guests warmly and processing check-ins with both manual and computerized systems, ensuring that guests are assigned rooms as requested and experience a seamless arrival process.
In addition to check-in procedures, the role involves facilitating guest departures by following established checkout protocols, accurately closing guest accounts, and preparing rooms for future guests. A significant part of the role includes handling financial transactions, posting charges, and maintaining precise hotel records using accurate cash handling techniques in line with hotel policies. This requires a high degree of attention to detail and integrity to ensure all monetary dealings meet company standards.
The Front Desk Associate also serves as a knowledgeable resource for guests, responding courteously to inquiries both in person and over the telephone. They provide information about hotel rates, availability, and local functions while employing suggestive selling techniques designed to boost room occupancy and hotel revenue. The role also includes operating PBX systems for managing incoming and outgoing calls, scheduling wake-up calls, and paging guests when necessary, which requires excellent multitasking capabilities.
This role demands excellent communication skills in English, a friendly and courteous demeanor, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining professionalism in sometimes stressful situations. Physical requirements include standing for the majority of the shift, occasional bending, kneeling, and carrying items up to 25 lbs. The work environment is primarily indoors in a climate-controlled setting. Compensation for this hourly position is set at USD $24.89 per hour, reflecting the expertise and responsibility expected in delivering high standards of guest service at this prominent Sonoma resort.
