Job Description
The Durst Organization is a venerable family-run real estate company established in 1915, known for its unwavering commitment to innovation, integrity, community, and sustainability. With over a century of experience, Durst develops, builds, owns, and manages some of the most distinguished office towers and residential buildings that set the benchmark for environmental responsibility and operational efficiency. Serving generations of tenants and partners, Durst creates sustainable living and working environments where communities can thrive. Their portfolio includes a wide range of innovative, efficient buildings that embody these values, making the company a leader in the real estate industry.
Currently, The Durst Organization is seeking a Concierge to join their team at 20-30 Hallett's Point, located in the vibrant neighborhood of Astoria, Queens. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide exceptional customer service within a premier residential environment. The Concierge will act as the frontline representative to residents, guests, and prospects, ensuring a welcoming and well-maintained entrance experience. Key responsibilities include greeting residents and guests, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the lobby, entryways, and front desk, handling package deliveries, signing for and tracking parcels via the building system, and managing service requests. Additionally, the Concierge is responsible for screening visitors to maintain security, addressing resident complaints with appropriate escalation, and managing visitor parking where applicable.
The role also requires emergency preparedness, including coordinating with the Durst emergency response team during incidents and supporting first responders upon arrival. The position follows a schedule from Wednesday through Saturday, 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm, and Sunday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with Mondays and Tuesdays off. The hourly pay range is between $22.33 and $29.77, with overtime rates from $33.49 to $44.66.
The position demands excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Candidates must demonstrate reliability in adhering to scheduled hours and flexibility to work overtime as needed. This is a critical role in maintaining the safety, security, and quality of life for residents. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with 1-2 years of relevant customer service or concierge experience. The Durst Organization also requires that within 90 days of hire, the candidate must complete certain safety certifications, including CPR, AED, Basic First Aid, and an emergency response fitness certificate.
The work environment usually presents a moderate noise level and involves physical requirements such as standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Durst is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all regulations protecting veterans and individuals with disabilities. They are committed to creating an inclusive workplace that values diversity and offers accommodations as necessary. This role is an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking meaningful work in a prestigious real estate company committed to community, sustainability, and excellence in service.
