Job Description
The San Mateo County Event Center is a prominent public assembly facility known for hosting a diverse range of events including the celebrated San Mateo County Fair. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Any combination of education, experience, and training providing required knowledge and abilities
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive hand movements
- Ability to work in environments exposed to grease, smoke, fumes, chemicals, heat, and sharp objects
- Ability to speak, hear, and see with close, distance, and peripheral vision
- Compliance with all safety and sanitation regulations including ServSafe and HACCP
- Ability to safely use standard kitchen equipment

Job Duties
- Prepare food according to SMCEC guidelines and recipes
- Observe and test foods for doneness including temperature checks
- Grill, cook, and fry foods including garnishing meats
- Plan and manage work orders to ensure timely serving
- Season and cook food following recipes and experience
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment
- Portion, arrange, garnish, and serve food to patrons
