Job Description
The Compounding 1 position is a critical role within a manufacturing environment, specifically focusing on the production of finished formulas for packaging lines. This role is essential to ensure timely delivery and accuracy in the formulation process, employing safe and efficient work practices to maintain the highest standards of product quality and safety. The company values dedication to safety, teamwork, and quality control, offering an environment where employees are expected to actively contribute to production goals while adhering to stringent safety protocols.
This position involves physical activities such as standing, walking, ascending and descending steps, and handling heavy materials like bags and drums for approximately 65% of the work time. The ability to lift continuous loads of up to 50 pounds for extended periods is crucial, alongside working in varied environmental conditions including wet, humid, dusty, and chemically hazardous areas. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory to ensure safety when working with corrosive, caustic, and acidic chemicals.
The Compounding 1 role is heavily focused on process accuracy and hands-on interaction with manufacturing equipment. Primary responsibilities include weighing and making batches with scales and processing vessels, which may be manually or PLC-controlled, transferring batches between vessels through plumbing and valve systems, and performing cleaning tasks using manual and automated clean-in-place (CIP) systems. The role also requires proficiency in SAP transactions for raw material issuance and finished batch reporting. The position demands strong attention to detail for documenting batch records and cleaning logs accurately and promptly.
Working knowledge of programmable logic control (PLC) systems, basic computer skills including Windows and SAP familiarity, and at least two years of experience in a manufacturing or related environment are preferred qualifications. Experience in personal care or food industries, or as a packaging technician, adds value to candidates seeking this position.
The role also demands teamwork, professionalism, and compliance with company safety rules at all times. The ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues is vital to maintaining productive operations and minimizing downtime. Physical tasks include operating electric pallet jacks, drum hoists, and various plumbing connections using specialized custom wrenches, including handling processing aids like colloid mills.
The Compounding 1 position is well-suited for candidates who thrive in dynamic manufacturing settings and prioritize safety, efficiency, and accuracy. It provides an opportunity to work with advanced processing equipment and control systems, contributing directly to product quality and operational excellence. The company encourages continuous improvement and values employees who demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and maintaining high standards.
This role typically requires adherence to scheduled work hours with occasional extended hours based on workload demands. The position is integral to the packaging process, ensuring that formulations meet quality specifications before reaching the packaging lines, and contributes significantly to overall production success.
