Job Description

Athletic Brewing is an innovative company on a mission to transform the beer industry by focusing on non-alcoholic beer. The company's core values emphasize rapid movement, high standards, performance rewards, and ownership mentality. Sporting a collaborative environment of dedicated professionals, Athletic Brewing prioritizes merit, accountability, and growth by contribution. Their product line and corporate ethos aim to positively impact health, activity, and opportunity within their communities. Diversity and inclusivity form crucial aspects of their recruitment and operational strategies, ensuring representation from various backgrounds while fostering a welcoming environment for all employees. Headquartered in Milford, CT, the company operates a brewery where employees engage in both onsite collaboration and individual initiative to deliver groundbreaking products and category leadership in the non-alcoholic beverage space.

The Compliance Manager role at Athletic Brewing is a pivotal position that combines deep regulatory expertise with strategic compliance leadership. Embedded within the Marketing and Innovation teams, this role provides essential guidance from product conception through market launch, ensuring that the company moves swiftly without costly regulatory errors. Athletic Brewing operates in a highly regulated and rapidly evolving category – non-alcoholic beer – which demands a thorough understanding of various regulatory bodies including the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), FDA, FTC, and state and local Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) laws. The Compliance Manager will be responsible for interpreting complex regulations and transforming them into actionable business advice, helping to safeguard brand equity and compliance integrity.

This role is designed for a seasoned professional with significant experience in food and beverage marketing compliance, particularly within beer, non-alcoholic beer, or similarly regulated consumer packaged goods categories. Candidates should possess a strategic mindset with the ability to proactively anticipate challenges and provide creative solutions that align with both regulatory requirements and business objectives. The position includes responsibilities such as overseeing label, packaging, advertising, and promotional material approvals across domestic and international markets as well as supporting claim substantiation and mitigating marketing risks. The role also entails managing workflow systems for label versions and approvals, reviewing sweepstakes and coupon legalities, conducting trademark searches, and serving as a liaison between marketing, compliance, legal, and sales teams.

Athletic Brewing values detail orientation, organization, and the ability to independently manage multiple priorities. The ideal Compliance Manager is self-motivated, eager to lead compliance initiatives, and capable of educating stakeholders on regulatory boundaries in a solutions-oriented manner. The position offers an in-office work environment about four days per week at the Milford brewery location and includes a competitive salary range of $95,000 to $125,000 base with performance bonuses. Additional benefits encompass comprehensive health, vision, dental, life insurance, 401k with a 5% company match, and paid parental leave, alongside community volunteering time and strong commitment to internal mobility and equity. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who want to make a visible impact in a forward-thinking company that leads the non-alcoholic beer category with integrity and innovation.
