The Complex Food & Beverage Manager position is a critical leadership role within Bunkhouse's hospitality team. This role works in close collaboration with broader teams at Hotel San Jose and the Austin Motel to deliver seamless food and beverage operations. The manager oversees multiple outlets including the San Jose Lounge, Rocky's, and the Austin Motel Pool, as well as catering services, kitchen operations, bars, and room service. The primary responsibility is to ensure high standards of service, quality, consistency, and guest satisfaction across all F&B outlets.

This role demands a passion for hospitality combined with strong organizational and interpersonal skills. The Complex Food & Beverage Manager leads and develops the F&B team by managing staffing, training, recruitment, and performance evaluation. The position involves collaborating on menu development, beverage offerings, and ensuring the look, feel, and flow of each outlet align with the brand's culture and guest expectations. The manager is expected to uphold Bunkhouse policies and culture, promoting an inclusive and motivated work environment. Excellent communication skills and conflict resolution abilities are fundamental, as the role frequently involves addressing guest concerns and operational challenges.

In addition to day-to-day operational leadership, the manager partners with hotel management to optimize labor scheduling and profitability, maintain safety and cleanliness standards, and monitor financial performance. This position requires an individual who is adaptable, able to multitask, and skilled in using industry-related technology such as Aloha or Toast POS systems. Job Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in restaurant management
  • Experience in kitchen and with BOH operations is a plus
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to resolve conflicts effectively
  • Thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies
  • Ability to manage short and long-term complex projects
  • Skills in developing and managing P&L and tracking budgets
  • Knowledge of inventory management, scheduling, planning, logistics, and distribution
  • Capacity to train and lead teams
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
  • Proficiency with Aloha or Toast POS systems
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and safety standards
  • Capability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Willingness to stand, walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight hours per day

Job Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in restaurant management, experience in kitchen and with BOH operations is a plus

Job Duties

  • Oversee and run service by setting the example
  • Oversee and ensure quality of the beverage programs
  • Oversee and ensure quality of the kitchen and food program
  • Standardize and document staff training to ensure consistency in service and product
  • Lead recruiting, developing, and training efforts for the F&B management team
  • Create a positive work environment for all F&B employees, leading by example
  • Uphold Bunkhouse customer service standards at all F&B outlets
  • Personally handle resolving guest complaints regarding F&B operations
  • Ensure staff has a complete understanding of their job requirements and enough training before holding them accountable for results
  • Ensure regular performance evaluations are being conducted for all F&B staff
  • Maintain awareness of documentation needed and retained in employee files
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the market to promote brand awareness, competitive analysis, and opportunities for demand generation
  • Maintain a system of on-site inspections to ensure the interior and exterior of F&B outlets meet or exceed quality standards
  • Provide effective direction to leaders regarding operational and procedural standards
  • Assist hotel management teams in developing labor schedules to optimize labor and profitability of F&B outlets on property
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans to address operational deficiencies and areas to improve efficiency
  • Monitor periodic operational/financial performance metrics and provide in-depth analysis to the Hotel General Manager & Hotel Manager, review labor standards on a weekly basis to ensure controls are in place
  • Ensure open lines of communication with staff, all departments, and upper management via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the hotel are met
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition
  • Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property
  • Perform additional duties as needed or directed
