Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in hospitality or event management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and office software
  • Knowledge of food and beverage service standards
  • Understanding of relevant health and safety regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift or move light objects up to 20 pounds
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality

Job Qualifications

  • 2 - 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or as a meeting planner
  • Proficient in Windows, company-approved spreadsheets and word processing
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques
  • Understanding of health department rules and regulations
  • Familiarity with Nevada liquor laws and regulations
  • Experience with Marriott Consolidated Inventory System CI is a plus
  • Flexibility to work long hours
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Capable of light physical work involving lifting or moving up to 20 pounds

Job Duties

  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests
  • Listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests
  • Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
  • Approach all encounters in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner
  • Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings
  • Participate in manager on duty coverage as required
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel standards
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity and assist in implementing solutions for problem areas
  • Handle problems by anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving them
  • Understand and evaluate complex information to meet objectives
  • Maintain confidentiality of information
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
  • Manage existing accounts and follow up with client re-solicitation to capture future business
  • Respond to requests by meeting planners immediately
  • Interact with outside planners and vendors for event setup
  • Maintain pricing integrity and propose upscale menus for clients
  • Create, review, and revise rooming lists and VIP lists
  • Manage function book and adjust space to maximize revenue
  • Be visible on the floor and assist staff during functions
  • Respond promptly to guest complaints
  • Keep manager informed of all significant matters
  • Work with food and beverage managers and keep them informed of issues
  • Prepare and submit required reports timely
  • Know meeting room setups and capabilities
  • Know sleeping room configurations and types
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of all operational departments including guest services, reservations, housekeeping, audiovisual, switchboard, accounting, restaurants, bars, and engineering
  • Conduct or participate in departmental and hotel training
  • Plan and execute holiday and special events with Catering and Event Managers
  • Use feedback from meeting planner evaluations to improve service and quality
  • Coordinate ongoing implementation of Highgate Hotel enrichment philosophy
  • Ensure department participation in monthly team meetings
  • Lead weekly meetings such as BEO, ESS, and Resume
  • Focus team on contributing to guest service and audit scores
  • Conduct meetings according to Highgate Hotel standards
